TGS REC Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
TGS REC is an iPhone app for recording, editing and listening to DJ sets. It is provided by José María Zarate Macabich (The Groove Society), Glemmtaler Landesstraße 685, 5753 Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria. Questions about privacy: support@thegroovesociety.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Your recordings, videos, edits, highlights, tracklists, cover images and profile details (DJ name, roles, venue and photo) are stored on your iPhone. TGS REC has no user accounts and we do not receive copies of your recordings, unless you choose to publish to Facebook or Instagram as described below.
Microphone, camera and photos
TGS REC uses the microphone or your connected audio interface to record your sets, the camera to film them, and your photo library only when you pick a cover image or import media. Hands-free gestures are detected on your iPhone and the camera images are not stored or sent anywhere.
Track identification
When you run Track ID on a saved session, TGS REC uses Apple's ShazamKit. Short audio signatures created from your recording are sent to Apple to find matching songs. Apple's privacy policy applies to that processing. Track ID only runs when you start it.
Services you choose to connect
You can optionally connect YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, Mixcloud, SoundCloud, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram. You sign in with that service and the access it grants is stored securely on your iPhone. Files are sent only when you tap to upload or publish, and the privacy policy of the service you choose applies to what you send it.
- YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, Mixcloud, SoundCloud and TikTok: your file goes directly from your iPhone to the service.
- Facebook and Instagram: publishing goes through our server, hosted by Supabase. It stores the connected account and page identifiers, the access needed to publish for you, and a record of each publication (title, caption, status and link). The video is held temporarily so Meta can fetch it, and is removed when it expires. You can disconnect at any time in Connections.
Disconnecting a service stops future uploads. It does not delete files you already uploaded or published there.
Google user data: when you connect YouTube or Google Drive, TGS REC uses your Google account name and email only to show which account is connected, uploads the files you choose to your YouTube channel or Google Drive, and, when you start TGS LIVE, creates and runs that YouTube live broadcast. Google Drive access is limited to files created by TGS REC. Your Google data is not stored on our servers, is not shared with anyone and is never used for advertising. TGS REC’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Purchases
The free trial and the full unlock are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No analytics tools that build a profile of you.
- We never sell your data.
Your choices and rights
Deleting a session, or deleting the app, removes that data from your iPhone. You can disconnect any service in Connections and revoke access in that service's account settings. To access or delete the Facebook/Instagram publishing records kept on our server, email support@thegroovesociety.com. You also have the rights given by the EU General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
Children
TGS REC is not directed at children under 13.
